Worship-what is it and few different experiences
October 16-An alternative worship (Multi-sensory and Participatory) about being the Body of Christ.
Architecture—The building is a college campus so the pews are replaced by tables and chairs. The preaching has a teaching aspect to it so it fits the architecture.
We begin service with a few songs sometimes traditional and sometimes contemporary. We share in prayer together and then there is a sermon less than 20 minutes most times.
After the sermon, we share in the practice of the Lord's Supper. We take up an offering of money to support our ministry but this is done by placing our money and checks in a bowl in the back. Nothing is passed around the room just an open invitation of a bowl in the back. Guests are not expected to contribute.
After worship there is usually an informal gathering of folks where snacks and drinks are provided. You can bring snacks into the worship center during worship if you can't wait. We are a compassionate church that cares for you as one of God's greatest creations.
Our hope is that you find a place where you can grow in faith and wonder in the power of Jesus Christ.
The Essentials
- We believe that Jesus is the son of God and the savior of the world. Jesus? life and teaching provides a path that will heal the brokenness of the world. Brokenness found in addictions, wrecked relationships, lack of purpose, violence, and poverty.
- The Bible is the most important book in the world. The Bible is more important than any bestseller at Border's or a book that Oprah recommends. To us, we are not concerned about what we think about the Bible but more concerned what we do with the Bible. Applying the Bible's wisdom to our lives, changes us. Those changes are ones that bring love, hope, grace, and peace to the world.
The Nonessentials
Everything else. Including, evolution, creation, end of the world, gay marriage, homelessness, social justice, Republicans, Democrats, and the Bar B Q, Corn Bread, and Apple Pie. All those things outside of Jesus and the Bible are less than important. Important: Love God. Love Your Neighbor. Love Yourself.
Vision, Mission, & Values
Vision—To be a faithful and growing church that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality, and a passion for justice.
Mission—To be and share the good news of Jesus Christ from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.
Values—
- All people matter to God.
- Faith is taking risk and God is with you as you leap.
- Learning is a life long process
- Compassion is the need to care
- Integrity and Authenticity is living honestly and courageously
